MBFDZ: Walking for Marc Stone

Photography by Mercedes-Benz Fashion Days Zurich, Andrea Monica Hug & Moritz Lips.

Last Friday was so incredible! I was able to walk for Marc Stone at the International Style Night at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Days Zurich. For the first time I hit the catwalk which means I was quite nervous before the fashion show, but the feedback was really good, so I think all worries were for nothing! To be honest I always wanted to walk on the catwalk (at least once in my life) and I had the chance to do so at the biggest fashion event in Switzerland, our petit Fashion Week. Here I am - half blogger, half model - sharing with you an awesome experience of my life & I couldn't be happier.

It all started a few weeks back when I went to the casting. I had a quite unpleasant feeling after it, because I wasn't sure at all if he had picked me or not. Then two weeks ago the relief came: My modeling agency called and said that Marc Stone had booked me for his show. So I went on with a super happy feeling until Thursday night when I had the fitting for the show. First of all I had to wait for one hour in which I had time to observe all the backstage-madness and what I could expect the next day. Then at 9 pm it was my turn for the fittings. Marc asked me: "Do you feel comfortable opening the show?" Unexpected of his question I answered: "Yes, sure". But it didn't work out because the sleeves of the suit were too short, so I had to enter the stage as the second. I tried on four different outfits and ended up wearing three out of a total of 21 outfits (which meant pure stress to change between the looks as we were only 10 models). I went home with an exciting yet frightening feeling - would I do a good job?

The next day the same feeling stayed until I had to be there at 4.30 pm for the rehearsal, hair & make-up and of course.. waiting.. The feeling suddenly left after we had rehearsed. Henceforward I was purely excited and couldn't wait for the show to start! It was a quarter to 9 pm, everything & -one was ready, and the show was supposed to start in 15 minutes, but due to the guests not wanting to take their seats we had to wait another 45 minutes or so. Finally everybody found their seats, it was dark outside and the show started. The woman who did the coordination slightly pushed me forward and I stepped onto the catwalk and into the light and the flurry of flashbulbs. Pure adrenalin. I walked back and forth, trying no to look too tensed. After I did my route I went backstage taking off all the clothes with the help of my dresser and put on outfit number two (it had to happen in like 2 minutes), before going out again. It all repeated once more. The ten minutes of rush were over and the first thought that popped up in my head: "Wow, all this time invested, all the people who worked on that for only ten minutes show, for a collection that already had been shown at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin and is already sold to the stores?" But it was totally worth it and I will definitively do it again!

Thanks to all the people who made this possible!

Among the guests of that night were Sandra Bauknecht (left), Karlie Kloss (right), Kristina Bazan, Michelle Ochs and Carly Cushnie (the designers behind Cushnie et Ochs), Maurizio Modica and Pierfrancesco Gigliotti (the designers behind Frankie Morello Milan) and Pepa Salazar.

The show was over and we all headed to the after show party in the VIP tent. A well deserved drink and chats with some of my friends were exactly what I needed. Before the tent closed I also ran into the lovely Gray (see photo below) and I met the designer Pepa Salazar and her amazing Spanish friends + family as well. One came to another and Moritz & I found ourselves partying with the Spanish delegation at the Friday Fashion Party until the small hours in the morning. Thank you Pepa, Javier, Mapi, Gema and Pepa (see our polaroid here), see you soon in Madrid!
