The Widder Hotel is surrounded by something mystical and fascinating - it is situated in one of the oldest quarters of Zurich and set together out of nine former independent houses from the Middle Ages. At first you feel a bit lost and confused, because the hotel is pretty angular, but I guess that is what's charming about it. Apart from our room we saw some of the other bloggers rooms as well as the rooms we were shooting at and everyone was completely different from one another, each furnished and decorated stylishly and in accordance to the architecture of the room.
We stayed there while the 11th Zurich Film Festival was taking place and of course there were also some movie stars staying at the hotel. In a relaxed atmosphere we saw Luke Evans sipping a drink in the courtyard, Swiss director Marc Forster wandering around the hotel, Kiefer Sutherland and entourage having dinner and Ellen Page enjoying a cocktail at the Widder Bar.
AuGust is their newly opened restaurant where you can enjoy a rich breakfast, delicious lunch or dinner. The interior is inspired by a butcher shop, because back in the days it was used as a slaughterhouse and frankly if you don't like meat this isn't the place to be. On the other hand for those of you who enjoy meat it is a great restaurant to eat. A simple kitchen, very delicious and cozy to be at.
The Widder Bar is next to the Kronenhalle Bar one of the top bars in Zurich and has won several international prizes. They store over 400 bottles of whiskey and change their drinks menu each month with newly created cocktails as well as selected whiskeys that are being highlighted. Each cocktail and whiskey is charted in a flavour map so even though you haven't heard of it before you more or less know what it'll taste like.

All in all it was a fantastic weekend with fond memories to take home with! We want to thank the hotel manager Jan Brucker and René for making it possible.
