Tell us a little about yourself.
I did an apprenticeship at a very famous Swiss bank and I am currently still working in the financial sector, but I am seeking to work full-time in fashion. Another passion of mine is film, a passion which I share with my brother Moritz and a friend of ours, Julian. Not only are we frequent cinema-goers and movie-watchers, but we are also involved in doing our own short films.
I started blogging at the end of October 2012 out of passion for fashion and now it has become a serious business for my brother and I. We are constantly thriving for perfection in order to maintain high quality of blog content. Whatever we are working on - professionalism is the key word for us.
You were born in Zurich, Switzerland. What’s the fashion scene like?
The style of Switzerland is very average in general. I wouldn’t say the people dress super fancy nor particularly bad. In Zurich, the style is extremely influenced by stores like H&M and Zara. Unfortunately, young people don’t look for cool alternative brands, which I of course am trying to change with my blog.
Everyone has to find his or her personal style and I think Switzerland is still searching for its place in the global fashion industry. I am sure that events such as the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Days Zurich or the Mode Suisse will help.
Please dish on your love for Karl Lagerfeld.
The fact that Karl Lagerfeld is a genius isn’t up for debate. I am amazed by his passion, discipline, willpower, creativity and depth. What astonishes me over and over again is the fact that a man of 79-years is able to design more than ten collections a year, has the time for various collaborations such as the latest one with Brazilian shoe brand Melissa, or his newly presented watch-collection. Not to mention all the photo shoots he does for magazines and campaigns and he also states to have read over 300,000 books.
He just shows what we can reach when going beyond our limitations.
We notice you’re daring and aren’t afraid to experiment. What’s your personal style like?
My personal style depends on my mood; when I get up in the morning I have a certain feeling of how I want to dress myself that day. It can be elegant, casual, rock, fancy and what I really like to do is mixing pieces together I would not have thought matched. As my mother is Danish I am also very drawn to the minimalistic Scandinavian style. If there is a style I have forgot to mention, I am more than curious to try it out. Experimenting keeps your spirit fresh!
What fellow bloggers do you draw inspiration from?
As my style is indefinable I take bits and pieces from more daring fashion bloggers like Bryanboy or Pelayo Diaz , but also Scandinavian inspiration provided by Andreas Wijk. And as we can travel the world in a split second I like to see what Brazilian fashion blogger Vini Uehara wears in his everyday life.
While the lines between men’s and women’s wear get thinner and thinner, I also get inspired by female bloggers such as Kristina Bazan, Denni Elias or Sabrina Meijer, not in terms of clothing of course, but in terms of style.
What is your personal motto?
“Do whatever makes you happy.”
It might not sound like it is hard to do so, but nowadays there are so many people who aren’t fulfilled in their lives, because they bind themselves to something they don’t want to do. So why not challenge yourself asking if you are doing what makes you happy?
What’s the coolest fashion experience you’ve ever had?
I was amazingly happy to have been invited to Baselworld 2013. It was a great experience and both my brother Moritz and I were massively impressed by the effort of the different watch brands. All the luxurious brands under one roof is somehow a must-see. After all, the watch is one of the most important accessories when it comes to your outfit (although I haven’t found mine yet).
If you could give one piece of advice to your 14 year-old self, what would it be?
Dare more and don’t care what others might think of you.
What are your dreams and goals for the future?
In the near future, I am hoping for more readers on my blog who share the same interests as I do and who are not only happy for the clothes I wear, but also the way they are being presented. I hope to be able to work with great brands that are interested in a long-term collaboration. And last but not least, to travel the world, meet all the fantastic people out there I haven’t met yet and get some more experience!
