Even someone who hasn't been to New York City before, myself included, probably has a very clear picture of what it looks and feels like being in the Big Apple. My idea of New York is shaped by countless movies, books and photographies and it almost feels familiar even though I haven't been there yet. But it's not only the iconic places that paint the picture, also art, music and fashion do their part to complete the painting. One of the names that comes to my mind when thinking American fashion is Ralph Lauren. He founded Polo Ralph Lauren in 1967 and has been shaping the American fashion industry ever since.
Based on the «Share Your Style» campaign Zalando recently launched their «Brand Diaries» following three fashion brands around the globe that have each shaped the places they are based at. With Polo Ralph Lauren we discover New York through the eyes of fashion blogger Adam Gallagher who tells us how this city influenced his style and inspires him on a daily basis.
So for our shooting we envisioned a New York in the 90's. It's someone lingering around a bar after work all dressed up to go out afterwards and cloaked in a thick coat, because winter is just around the corner. Now all we need to complete our time travel is one of those huge cell phones from back then.
