After ten days in the neighboring country Malaysia, we came back to Singapore for the last leg of our South East Asian journey. This time we were staying at The Westin Singapore that is located on the levels 32 to 46 of the Asia Square Tower 2. It is really in the heart of the Central Business District and all about the view! Already when the elevator doors to the reception open you are greeted with a stunning view of the sea and Singapore’s port from the 32nd floor.
After we had arrived we spent the rest of our day checking out the huge Marina Bay Sands mall as well as the nearby futuristic Gardens by the Bay, both of which are easily accessible with the MRT from the hotel.
Upon recommendation from a friend of ours we went to Din Tai Fung in the evening to get some delicious dumplings and then to the Aura bar that is located on top of the National Gallery – definitively a must for awesome drinks, a relaxing atmosphere and amazing view of the Marina Bay area.
On Sunday we met up with local based photographers Franz, Hosanna and Kamal for a shooting. It was an interesting experience to work with three different photographers and being in front of the camera together with Moritz! Will show you the photos soon.
THE FOOD & DRINKS.
The breakfast at Seasonal Tastes is incredible, I don’t think that I’ve ever seen such a large buffet – they definitively leave no wishes open. It probably took me 10 minutes to look through the international and local delicacies, but once chosen we sat at a table right by the window overlooking Singapore from the 32nd floor and enjoyed our breakfast.
In the evening we would enjoy a cocktail in the cozy atmosphere of the lobby bar with live piano music playing in the background.
We were staying in one of the spacious Premier Seaview Rooms on the 41st floor of The Westin Singapore that offered an even more spectacular view out to the sea and port. It was equipped with all amenities you could ask for and featured one of the comfiest beds I have ever slept in, which made it extra hard to get up in the morning.
The easiest way really from Zurich to Singapore and back is the direct flight with Singapore Airlines. Already when boarding the aircraft you are greeted by the Asian hospitality and friendliness that I like so much. It wasn’t my longest flight even though it takes 12 hours, but due to the great departure (around noon) and arrival (early morning) times it doesn’t feel like you spent half a day on the plane.
When we flew out from Singapore they even arranged for us to try the First Class SilverKris Lounge, which was an amazing experience. Next to a selection of international and local dishes we enjoyed a drink at the bar, finished some work and before flying out used their shower facilities. Well fed and relaxed we boarded our plane back home to Zurich and enjoyed a good night sleep.
See you soon Singapore!
