How fast time flies.. We've already been on Koh Samui for ten days now. Even though I get up quite early to do my morning swim time seems to be going quicker - must be a good sign! Most of the pictures you'll see in this post are from last Thursday when we did a little trip around the island visiting the Big Buddha (which you can see in the photo above), some temples and Lamai beach. It is extremely hot (30° upwards) and particularly humid which makes sight seeing quite difficult. It sure is understandable that life takes place mostly after the sun went down.

Prior to our stay on Koh Samui I've always heard the best of it and how paradisiac this island is. It is true, but only partly. Of course the view and nature are stunning, but one cannot forget how dirty this island is.. There is a lot of plastic trash on the sides of the roads or wherever there are no tourists and I wouldn't wonder if the sewage water went straight out into the ocean! All the cars and scooters pollute the air near the main road which makes it very unpleasant to walk alongside. I feel like industrialization and tourism struck hard on an island where only fishermen used to live and that they cannot really handle it (yet?). So there are always two sides and it's important to remember!

I will be in Bangkok the 20th and 21st of March before flying back to Zurich late Friday night. So if you have any recommendations on what to do? what to see? and where to go? please leave a comment! Suggestions appreciated.

Best served Mojitos at The Lodge!

Sacrificial offerings, packed in plastic.

I am wearing a Borsalino panama hat, Scotch & Soda tee, Levi's vintage shorts and Birkenstock sandals. Also carrying my beloved Samsung NX300 with a Rothirsch camera leather strap.

Entrance to the Fisherman's Village on Bophut beach.

The beautiful Zazen Boutique Resort & Spa, you definitively have to go there for drinks (the food unfortunately isn't good)!

Let’s stay in touch!
